Vietnamese Tea
Lotus Ancien

Traditionally scented lotus tea is extremely rare. Because of the tremendous time and expense of traditional scenting, the majority of lotus teas found on the market are now scented with oils and extracts (both natural and synthetic).

For some time, we have been searching for an old style lotus tea. Last year, after finding an artisan who still practiced the old scenting method, we sourced the best spring harvest Vietnamese green tea we could find and commissioned a lotus scenting for the summer (when the blossoms would be in full bloom).

The very first lotus teas were scented by wrapping tea inside the center of a fresh lotus blossom placing the tea with the most fragrant part of the flower - the stamen. Traditional artisans take this a step further by combining the tea leaves with pure lotus stamen and baking them together to release the purest lotus fragrance.
