Native Name: Gui Hua Cha

Origin: China

Plucking Season: Harvested and processed in late Spring (April/May), Gui Hua Oolong maintains its sweet aroma and flavor for many months.

Introduction: Green Osmanthus is a blend of fine Chinese green tea and fragrant sweet osmanthus flowers.

Gui Hua
Gui Hua (“gway hwah”) is the Chinese name for the fragrant osmanthus flower, which blossoms in late summer and is used in scenting this green tea .

Osmanthus Scenting
After plucking and withering, the tea is pan-fired creating long, gently twisted style leaf. In the final stages of processing, the leaves are blended with osmanthus blossoms infusing the tea with the flower’s fragrant essential oils.

Flavor Profile: Green Osmanthus has a light, bright, sweet flavor and a fruity, floral aroma with hints of apple and apricot.

For brewing green teas, we recommend using slightly cooler water. If the water is too hot, the leaf will “stew”, creating a bitter, “spinachy” cup. Moderately hot water, 150 to 170 F, with one loose teaspoon of leaf per cup (two for larger, lighter leaf) and a steeping time of 2 to 3 minutes provides 2 to 3 satisfying infusions.
