Our recipe for the 500 Mile Chai Concentrate includes organic black teas from the regions of Darjeeling and Assam in Northeast India. Darjeelings are known for their muscatel 'white grape' flavor, while Assams are known for their full-bodied texture and malty flavor profile.
We blend the teas with fresh and small farm grown spices to bring you an authentic, uplifting Chai experience. You will find our Chai to have a balanced taste, well-rounded and representative of its origin.
Sweetened with Coconut Sugar
We use organic coconut sugar to sweeten the brew. Coconut sugar is produced from the sweet juices of tropical coconut palm sugar blossoms and contains no preservatives. It is known to have a much lower glycemic index than evaporated cane juice.
Direct and Fair Trade
We pay a premium for our teas and spices directly to growers ensuring ethical and fair farming practices.
Since 1997, we have been serving freshly brewed Chai to visitors at our teahouses in Portland, Oregon. More recently, we have built a tea brewery dedicated to the art of pure leaf teas. Our Chai batches are small, made fresh and with attention to detail. We welcome you to visit us and meet our Chaiwallas.
